WELCOME

Connecting Point is a ministry of Northridge Foursquare Church. We gather on Sundays at 6:00 pm at Colleen Findlay Place.

We participate in fulfilling the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20) by CONNECTING with God, with one another and with our community; by GROWING as followers of Jesus through understanding and obeying the Scriptures; and by SERVING those within our sphere of influence.

about us

Why "Connecting Point"? The church is the people, not a building. It is those who profess Christ as their Saviour. Church is a process, not an event. It is people coming to know Christ, growing in their faith, and fulfilling their unique Kingdom purpose. We describe this process as "connect, grow, serve". The name reflects this process. Connecting Point is not just the name of our church; it is a description of each person in the church. The name helps all of us to understand and remember that we don't go to church...we are the church. You are the connecting point!

liturgy

What you should expect when you come to a Connecting Point service.

  • prayer

Each Sunday we take time to pray together as a congregation. We use a mix of psalms and prayers from the scriptures and a variety of orthodox confessions and traditions, as well as more informal prayer. This happens from the front as well as in our "table talks" (see 1 Timothy 2:1-3).

  • worship

We worship: 1) to affirm that God is as he is presented in the Old and New Testaments, the only one worthy of worship. 2) to exalt His nature in our hearts and minds. 3) to reorient ourselves to Him, drawing near to Him in love. 4) to individually identify with the community of believers both locally and with the broader "Body of Christ" (see Mark 12:30 & Romans 12:1-2.

  • teaching

We are committed to learning God's Word, the Bible, and being challenged and shaped by its truth. We have a team of teachers who lead this time of methodically teaching through the books of the Bible for the purpose of equipping us to fulfill God's purpose of passing truth to others (see 2 Timothy 2:2).

  • table talk

We gather in groups around tables at our Sunday gatherings. Our teachers include discussion and prayer times to investigate, in community, how the teaching can apply individually and corporately. The tables are one of our main "connecting points." As a side benefit, you can also keep your coffee on the table!

  • baptism

We baptize in water those who have newly come to faith in Jesus. The act of baptism represents bringing us through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus into the life of New Creation inaugurated in Christ (see Colossians 2:12-13 & Romans 6:3-4).

  • communion

We regularly partake of communion together. Participation is based on Jesus' instruction on the night before He was arrested and crucified (see Luke 22:14-20). Communion is a time of remembrance and reflection on the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf (see Hebrews 10:10). Communion also anticipates and proclaims the return of Jesus (see 1 Corinthians 11:26).
